Mr. Rhoades is challenging Idaho's lethal injection method. Under the recently adopted protocol, three different chemicals would be used for the execution. In his lawsuit, Mr. Rhoades argues that members of the execution team are not required to be properly trained or experienced in intravenous catheters, or in determining whether he will be sufficiently unconscious so that he will not feel the otherwise extreme pain and severe burning caused by the last two chemicals flowing through his veins.
